【DNA Tandem Repeats as Iterable Objects to Count Cell Divisions: A Computational Model】

Satellite DNA (satDNA), so named because DNA centrifugation over a density gradient forms a "satellite" band, consists of huge arrays of Tandem Repeats (TRs), i.e. sequences of non-coding DNA, each one made up of the repetition of its characteristic monomer. Many finding supports the hypothesis that TRs, together with DNA methylation, play a role in cell divisions and in early embryo cleavage (where counting cell division rounds is crucial). This paper therefore introduces a computational model to investigate the possible role of satellite DNA in counting cell divisions, showing how cells may operate under Boolean logic algebra.
